Loving Care... To The Glory of God
"Cast me not off in the time of old age; forsake me not when my strength faileth." Psalm 71:9
Apostolic Christian Resthaven was incorporated in 1965 through the proceeds of a will from a member of the Apostolic Christian Church of Elgin. After extensive research, planning, and building, the first Resthaven was licensed for 31 sheltered-care (supportive) beds. After 11½ years at Bode Rd. in Elgin, Resthaven was sold on December 1, 1983, with the church’s intention to build a 49-bed skilled/ intermediate care facility on Elgin’s west countryside. Construction began in August 1984 and was completed in October 1985. The first resident was admitted to the new Apostolic Christian Resthaven on November 12, 1985. Twelve apartments were opened on April 15, 1986. One additional nursing care bed and a completed in-house laundry was added in May 1988. On January 1, 1991, six additional apartments were opened with garages.
